Halloween in York: Join Us to Celebrate the Spookiest Season of the Year!
What are your plans for Halloween 2021?
Here at Galtres Lodge, we’re embracing the autumnal weather. The leaves are changing colour, pumpkin spice lattes are in demand, and woolly jumpers are a must.
Halloween is just around the corner; so, we’re announcing our plans to celebrate the most spook-tacular season of the year with various tricks, treats and Halloween-themed activities for our visitors:
Halloween in York: Spooky Family Activities
From 29th-31st October, we’ll be surprising our little visitors with mini pumpkins and a pumpkin carving kit to enjoy during their meals in our Forest restaurant.
Our staff will also be getting into the spooky spirit of things with a pumpkin carving competition, designed to bring out their competitive side. The public will then be invited to judge our carved creations via social media before a winner is picked.
Discover Our New Autumn Menu
We’ll be updating our menu with some seasonal twists, including delicious dishes such as Taste of Yorkshire Game - a duck spring roll with smoked river trout and wild boar meatball. Additionally, we’ll be offering beetroot and chickpea bombe with a gooey vegan cheese centre for the vegetarians and vegans amongst you.
Indie York Mysterious and Magical Trail
This year, we’ll be taking part in the Indie York Mysterious and Magical Trail again, following the great success of last year's event during lockdown.
Approximately 100 local businesses and tourist attractions are expected to take part, and the trail will provide entertainment whilst showcasing York’s independent businesses and historic attractions. When starting the trail here at Galtres Lodge, we’ll give participants maps before they set out to find clues hidden in the windows of shops throughout York.
Discussing our plans for Halloween, Rebecca, our owner, said: “York is a fantastic place to visit at any time of the year. But there is something particularly special about the city at Halloween. Often referred to as the most ‘Haunted City in Europe’, York's cobbled streets and snickelways are actually thought to be the inspiration behind the Harry Potter films’ Diagon Alley and we're lucky to have surroundings that lend themselves so well to the spooky season.
“Given the limitations of last year, we wanted to embrace Halloween as much as possible this year, offering our guests a memorable experience that extends to the whole family. Pumpkin carving is a great way to get adults and children into the spirit of Halloween - and we look forward to seeing the spooky creations of Forest's visitors.
“We are also very excited to be involved in Indie York's Mysterious and Magical Trail again. As the chair of Indie York, I’m delighted that so many local businesses have confirmed their participation in this year's event. It’s an excellent opportunity to showcase York's independent businesses whilst simultaneously providing entertainment and educating participants on the historical attractions this city has to offer,” she concluded.
We’re excited to launch our Halloween activities and bring people together this autumn. If you’d like to book your table in our Forest restaurant, please contact a member of our team.
